Badami is a tehsil in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka, India. Badami was once the capital of Chalukya kings who ruled major part of the Deccan from 543 AD to 757 AD. Badami is famous for rock cut and other structural temples. The rock-cut Badami Cave Temples were sculpted mostly between the 543 AD to 757 AD. The four cave temples represent the secular nature of the rulers then, with tolerance and a religious following that inclines towards Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.
